Affiliate Marketing And PPC Management

How can you build wealth by using affiliate marketing and pay per click? You do that by not just sending the traffic on to your affiliates to get the commission but by building your own assets at the same time.

While going through the process of getting visitors to your site, have a ‘product’ of you own available for your customers, something individual to your site. Compile contact information from these visitors as often as possible. Then point them in your affiliate’s direction.

Customarily, if 5 or 6 years produces a ‘custom’, affiliate partners have put out ad banners or link exchanges, paid for ppc traffic and others, and then sent that traffic to the affiliate hoping for sales that he can get commissions from.

We call people who do that “bitslingers.” They buy traffic and get the dollars from it, but nothing else. They add nothing of value to the mix. They’re just brokers of clicks, and little more. Want to be more than just a bitslinger? Build an asset, a customer list you can communicate with again and again.

What offering of value can you list? He are some ideas that I have gathered:

Present an enlightening tutorial.

Offer a webinar on a subject that is compatible with, and flows to the affiliate product/service that you are touting.

Set up your own site that provides a multiday e-mail course about your topic, and promote your affiliate program that way.

Make available at no cost a guide or reference ‘paper’ on the subject.

Should you have several affiliates offering similar products or services, create a cost and quality analysis and then allow them to pick which one they like.

Create audio recordings on the subject.

Sponsor a contest.

Provide a free software download.

It is important that you refrain from screaming, “buy this!” to your customers. Give them something they can use to improve their business or life then they will want to see what product you are offering.

In days gone by all you had to do was buy clicks from Google and herd them through your links to your affiliate hosts site. These hosts love it especially when they have nearly all of the advertisements on the page pointing to them.

Problem is that Google didn’t think that was so great. These strong-arm arrangements messed up the process of Adwords and thus Google took a hit to their image. Thus came the Google revolution at the beginning of 2005. The rule now stands that one ad display url is allowed per page of Adwords listings per advertiser.

This does not mean, however, that you can’t have your affiliates showing up on the same Google results page as you. It simply means that they can’t just buy traffic and send it straight to your web site.

Therefore you, if you’re an affiliate for another host, or your affiliates have to create some unique and solid content for the webpage your visitors land on if you want to flourish. With this you have a win/win situation. Your site adds richness to the internet and your visitors add to your client base.

Key Areas to Successful Pay-Per-Click Advertising

A simple and extremely effective way to get eyeballs to your online business site is by using Pay-Per-Click advertising. It takes minutes to set up a campaign, and you are driving traffic right away to your Internet business opportunity.

Pay-Per-Click means just that, you will be paying the bid amount every time the search engine directs a visitor to your site. Also, as more prospects click on your ad, your site often will appear in the results of other prevalent search engines.

After you have set up your pay-per-click campaign, monitor it frequently from your chosen search engine site. You won’t have to tweak your web pages to get a higher position in the search engine results, only your ads. As you try new ideas and use different keywords, you will acquire more and more traffic.

The first of two key areas to focus on for you to be successful with pay-per-click advertising is your copy; the written description you come up with to peak curiosity. Your intention is not to generally attract visitors, but to reach your specific targeted prospects that are most likely to buy your service or product. Read the rest of this entry »

How to Fine-Tune a Pay Per Click Campaign with Negative Keywords

There is a fine line between running ads for enough keywords in your paid search account to generate sufficient traffic and running so many that you generate junk traffic - that is, unless you only use exact match (or the equivalent). If you are competing in an environment in which there is excess available keyword inventory, then you can probably get away with only using exact match keywords. In fact, if you can, we recommend it. However, this is usually not the case.

Often, due to strong competition for the top keywords, you will need to use a more broad strategy. This opens you up to the possibility of having your ads displayed for non-relevant searches. But there is a way to fine tune the traffic your ads draw without missing relevant searches.

It’s done by using negative keywords.

Negative keywords are keywords you specify that should not be included in search queries that trigger your ad. A common example is the word “free”. If you sell a product but you do not want ads for your product being displayed to those looking for something free, then you could set a negative keyword of “free” to prevent it.

For example, let’s say you sell an ebook about dog training. You might run paid search ads for search phrases like “dog training”, “how to train a dog”, “dog training information”, etc. But if you don’t want your ad to be displayed for a search of “free dog training information”, then you would set a negative keyword of “free”. In reality, you might want to target that traffic anyway in order to give the visitors a free sample of your work, which will hopefully generate a sale. But that is a topic for another article.

Another example would be if you offer language translation services for documents written in Chinese. If you run ads for the broad match keyword “Chinese translations”, chances are very good that you will generate a lot of traffic from people looking to have words translated into Chinese symbols for decorative purposes such as tattoos. If you translate business documents for a living, it really doesn’t do you much good to spend your time doing one character translations. So a good negative keyword in this instance would be “tattoo.”

You can probably think of some negative keywords at the start that make sense, but as you run your campaign, it really helps to know what keywords people are actually using that trigger your ad at inappropriate times. In Google, you can generate a search query report that will show you exactly what phrases have triggered clicks to your site. As you look through the report, if you see keywords that are not appropriate, then those are keywords that you should add to your account as negative keywords.

Using negative keywords is a way for you to fine-tune the traffic that you drive to your web site via paid search without limiting yourself by using exact match keywords. It is a strategy we definitely recommend you look into because it will improve your campaign return on ad spend by focusing your marketing dollars on more relevant keywords.

Affiliate Marketing: Finding a Program that Fits You

Opportunities to make money from home have never been so accessible to so many people. The internet provides hundreds of programs for business owners and consumers alike to promote their products and earn money doing it. No longer do you need a degree in network marketing to be successful in sales. You need only a computer, and a great affiliate marketing program.

Selecting the Right Program
There are hundreds of affiliate programs. Some programs deal with specific types of products, such as digital information, while others partner with a wide range of businesses. In order to select a program that is right for you, keep in mind the following factors:

1. How are commissions calculated? Some affiliate programs pay based on the number of people you attract to the product, regardless of whether they purchase. Other programs pay commission solely on products sold.

2. How will the program help me? When you are just starting out, you will have many questions about the program. It is essential to do your research and find a program that offers help to beginners. The program must provide support for its affiliates. There are many great programs for ‘newbies’, which provide step by step instructions and video tutorials.

3. What products are offered through the program? Success in affiliate marketing lies in your ability to be a genuinely helpful resource to your prospective consumers. The mix of products you sell needs to correspond with your interests and talents, otherwise you will come across as a phony salesperson! Find programs that offer products in your areas of interest such as books, automobile accessories, sporting equipment, wine or any area in which you have expertise.

4. How flexible is the program? Many affiliate programs require a website on which you will place an affiliate link. If you do not have a website, locate a program that allows you to market through emails, articles and ezine advertisements etc.

5. What is the time frame for commissions? Locate an affiliate program that has a long return time. The return time is the length of time from the first time a consumer clicks on your informational link to the product to the time when they purchase the product. The longer the return time, the more likely you are to earn commissions. Longer return times allow consumers to think and come back, while you still gain a benefit from introducing them to the product.

Once you have narrowed your choices of affiliate programs in which to participate, choose one and get started. Stick with your program of choice for as long as necessary, as it will take time to develop a strong system and begin seeing results. There is nothing like that first commission to keep you going! Focus on your first sale, and then stay in it for the long haul. It is a cross-country race, not a sprint, but there is potential for great rewards, long-term.
